Apple opened pre-orders for the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, on Friday, October 16, 2026, and shipping estimates quickly moved to late January 2027. According to reports, the estimated delivery date shifted from October 23 to January 25 in less than 30 minutes after pre-orders began.
Apple had planned to launch the phone in the US and China first and then expand, but changed course at the last minute to launch in more than 70 regions at once instead of two. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman called the change a "major mistake" and reported that Apple is telling stores not to sell the iPhone Duo in-store because stock is very limited.
Apple told AppleInsider that pre-order demand has been "nothing short of extraordinary" and that it is working to get the product to customers quickly while still accepting online orders. Apple's website still tells visitors to check back for in-store pickup availability on October 24.
Some buyers, particularly in Japan, have seen earlier delivery dates, with one order moved from December to October 23; Apple has not commented. The earlier dates appear limited to orders placed directly with Apple. The iPhone Duo is described as a $2,000 phone, and the rollout has been criticized as a trust-damaging misstep, with Samsung still seen as ahead in foldables.
For buyers in Egypt and the Gulf, there is no local price or launch date for the iPhone Duo yet, and it is not known whether it will be sold there. MobiArabia will add store prices when it arrives.
