Pre-orders for Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, opened on October 16, 2026, and sold out almost immediately. Within minutes, by 5:30 a.m. Pacific (8:30 a.m. ET), all color and storage configurations showed an estimated ship date of January 25, with some users seeing January 29. The first pre-orders are set to arrive on October 23 launch day.
The phone starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model and comes in 'star white' and 'night sky' colors. It has a book-style design with a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display with a minimal crease, and four cameras: a rear 48-megapixel Fusion Main, a rear 48-megapixel Ultra Wide, a front 12-megapixel Center Stage in the outer display, and another camera.
According to reports from 9to5Mac, MacRumors, and The Verge, the delay is attributed to a mix of strong demand and severely constrained supply. A Nikkei Asia report last month said Apple was making just a few hundred iPhone Duo units per day, far behind a normal iPhone ramp. A Foxconn supply chain source told China's Jiemian News that final assembly yields were only slightly above 60% as of September 17. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said supply would be limited.
Scalpers on eBay are asking as much as $5,200 for pre-orders. Apple Store pickup was briefly available but is now disabled, with Apple telling customers to check back on Saturday, October 24. The Duo is also available at resellers like Best Buy.
For buyers in Egypt and the Gulf, there is no word yet on iPhone Duo availability or local store prices. MobiArabia will add regional prices when it launches there.
