What is an LTPO display?

An LTPO display is a screen built with low-temperature polycrystalline oxide technology, an advanced type of OLED panel. Its main advantage is that it can change its refresh rate very flexibly, from as low as 1 Hz up to 120 Hz, instead of running at one fixed rate all the time.

In daily use, this means the phone uses less battery when showing static or slow content, such as reading an article or viewing a photo, because it lowers the refresh rate automatically. When you scroll quickly or play games, it raises the rate to keep motion smooth. The result is a better balance between battery life and screen smoothness without any effort from you.

When buying, look for a variable refresh rate listed in the specs, with a clear range such as 1-120 Hz or 10-120 Hz. Having LTPO does not automatically make a screen better at everything, but it helps if you want longer battery life along with high smoothness. Compare devices by the actual range and real-world smoothness, not just by the technology name.
