What are CPU cores and GHz?
CPU cores are the units inside a phone that handle tasks, and GHz measures how many operations each core can do per second.
The processor is the brain of the phone, and it is made of cores that work like employees completing tasks. Each core handles one operation at a time, and the GHz speed means how many billions of operations a core can do in one second. A phone with four cores works like four employees, and one with eight cores works like eight employees, but performance depends on more than just the number and speed.
In daily use, more cores and higher speed mean apps open faster, switching between apps feels smooth, and heavy games or video recording run without lag. However, a very powerful processor can make the phone heat up and drain the battery faster. That is why modern phones use powerful cores for heavy tasks and power-efficient cores for simple ones.
When buying, do not look at the GHz number alone, because the processor type and technology matter more than the number. For everyday tasks, 4 to 8 cores at 1.8 to 2.5 GHz are enough. For gaming and heavy use, look for 8 cores at 2.5 GHz or more with a recent processor. The most important thing is that the processor is balanced with the RAM and battery.
