What are HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision?
These are display technologies that make colors more realistic and details clearer in bright and dark scenes on phone screens.
HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, a technology that shows images with wider contrast and richer colors than standard video. HDR10 is the basic, most common format, while HDR10+ and Dolby Vision are advanced versions that add dynamic scene-by-scene optimization, meaning better adjustment of brightness and color for each moment.
In daily use, the difference shows when watching movies and series on streaming platforms: details in shadows become clearer, skies and lights look less washed out, and colors feel more vivid. But the benefit also depends on the screen quality itself and on whether the content you watch supports the format.
When buying, look for a screen that supports at least HDR10, and preferably HDR10+ or Dolby Vision if you watch a lot of paid content. Check the screen's brightness and resolution, and consider the refresh rate of 60Hz, 90Hz, or 120Hz for smoother motion. Remember that phone support alone is not enough if the content or app does not support the technology.
