Korean leaker Lanzuk, citing unnamed display supply chain sources, says Samsung is testing two variants of a wide-format Galaxy Z Fold 9, according to a report by Android Headlines citing Android Authority.
One is a Plus-style model with a slightly larger screen and body, and the other is an FE-style model at the same size but with trimmed specs. Samsung reportedly plans to launch only one of the two alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 9, which keeps the wider passport-style design.
The devices are in early testing and are expected to arrive no sooner than Summer 2027, possibly mid-2027 or later. The leak follows strong demand for the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8, and a Fold 9 FE could bring the wide design at a lower price, similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE approach.
The report also notes the Galaxy S27 is rumored to get more expensive due to rising memory costs, with foldables likely to follow. Samsung has not announced a price, launch date or launch region for the Fold 9.
Separately, tipster TheGalox claimed Samsung plans six Galaxy Z devices for 2027: the Fold 9, Fold 9 Pro, Fold 9 Ultra, Flip 9, TriFold 2 and a rollable Galaxy Z Slide. It is unclear where the Plus and FE variants fit, as they could be early names for the same models.
